COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUTHS
We are living at a computer age. Utilizing the computer does many things. Almost every office needs a computer for proper functioning. It is the desire of GMM to train youths in computer skills so that they will be able do something for themselves, find a means of livelihood and get employed. Students too will learn the computer skills during the summer holidays and before long they will be able to use the computer when they graduate from school. It will also help the students to occupy themselves during the holidays by doing something that will help them tomorrow.
How we will accomplish this task
We first of all need computers for the training. Five computers, a photocopy machine, a printer and a scanner could make a good beginning.
Length of course
The course length will be nine months computer training before graduation. We call this a regular computer class. This will include those youths who desire to train themselves in the computer skills and pastors’ wives. There is a need for pastors’ wives to know how to use the computer. After the graduation we will encourage the churches to buy computers so that the pastors’ wives will use for the good of the church. There are tracts to be typed and printed, bulletins, calendar of events, sermons, articles and many other documents. The church can experience growth, orderliness and decency if most of their documents are typed, printed and circulated.
The youths in the community will be of great use to the community if some learn the computer. Council meeting documents, development unions’ documents, and village bulletins will be printed with ease for the good of the community.
Most youths who could have been idling around and tempted to a life that is hazardous to the community have found employment in offices because they have been trained with computer skills. Others have found employment in schools and colleges, and others have set up a computer-training center for themselves and are generating reasonable income.
Potential youths in the community will be encouraged by GMM to set up a business for themselves. GMM will see to it that these youths really find means to realize the project. Also GMM will advertise the already trained youths to the public for possible employment.
Chief among other things, GMM will make sure that only capable people train these youths so as to achieve dynamic results.
In this program we think towards training ten to 15 youths in a year. This computer year is the 9 months computer-training course. This works only at the trial period of the beginning. We are already receiving applications from some youths for this program.
Summer Holiday Computer Training course
This course will be for students when they come back on holidays. They will go back to school with something that could help them. Our objective is impact. Just being good and merciful to the plight and needs of individuals. We have to do this in our own little way. We are Goodness and Mercy Missions.
Sustaining the business
Registration fees, daily typing, printing and photocopying of documents from customers will go a long way to generate some income for electricity bills, maintenance and some basic needs of the ministry.
We are developing a program on how to train youths and the community on how to use the Internet. We also think of connecting local Common Initiative Groups find how they could develop their activities and projects by browsing through the Internet for resources.
